In a landmark move towards sustainable energy, the Indian government has announced its comprehensive Green Hydrogen Policy Framework aimed at fostering the production and adoption of green hydrogen across the nation. The framework, unveiled by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, outlines ambitious targets to scale up green hydrogen production capacity to X gigawatts by 2030, positioning India as a global leader in renewable hydrogen technologies.
Under this policy, incentives will be provided to facilitate the establishment of green hydrogen production facilities, including subsidies for electrolyzer manufacturing and investments in renewable energy integration. Furthermore, regulatory reforms will streamline approvals for hydrogen projects and ensure grid connectivity, crucial for leveraging renewable sources like solar and wind power.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of New and Renewable Energy highlighted the potential of green hydrogen to decarbonize various sectors, including industry, transport, and power generation. The framework emphasizes collaboration with industry stakeholders and international partners to accelerate technology transfer and knowledge exchange, driving India’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
