With deep sorrow and reverence, we announce the passing of Mr. Kuljit Singh Popli, a man of extraordinary vision, humility, and service, who departed for his heavenly abode on 18th April 2025. His journey on this earth may have concluded, but the legacy he leaves behind is timeless—etched in the lives he touched, the paths he illuminated, and the hearts he inspired.
Mr. Popli was a pioneering force in the field of renewable energy in India, long before sustainability became a global imperative. Through decades of selfless work, he lit not only homes but hopes—bringing clean energy to rural corners and proving that compassion, coupled with conviction, can move mountains. Where others saw barriers, he envisioned bridges.
In his most recent role as Country Director for the World Biogas Association, Mr. Popli took his mission beyond national boundaries—advocating for a greener, cleaner world. His efforts in promoting biogas as a vital renewable resource have set benchmarks for generations to follow.
To many, he was more than a professional stalwart—he was Guruji. A mentor, a guide, a pillar of strength and calm. His words brought comfort, his actions instilled courage, and his presence offered peace. Mr. Popli embodied a rare blend of quiet determination and profound humility. He never sought accolades—only impact.
Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember his unwavering integrity, his boundless generosity, and his unwavering “yes” to anyone in need. In every room, he was the calm in the storm; to his colleagues, a leader; to his friends, a steadfast companion; to his family, a fountain of love and light.
The spirit of “Singh is King” shone through him—not in might or title, but in his unmatched compassion, courage, and grace.
Mr. Popli leaves behind a legacy far greater than any award or recognition—his soul lives on in every solar panel lighting up a rural home, in every biogas unit bringing sustainable fuel to communities, in every mentee he inspired, and in every silent act of kindness he performed without fanfare.
He is survived by his loving family, his wide circle of admirers, and all those who had the fortune of learning from his life and values.
