Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for India’s largest green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam on November 29. The event will take place from the Andhra University Engineering Grounds, where he will address the public.
The ambitious project, led by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), is planned for development in Pudimadaka, Atchutapuram mandal, Anakapalle district.
Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju confirmed the event, stating, “Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the green hydrogen project from the Andhra University Engineering Grounds and address the public on the occasion.”
Originally, the event was intended to be held in Anakapalle district, with Anakapalle MP CM Ramesh pushing for a location closer to the project site. However, due to logistical issues and anticipated adverse weather conditions, including low-pressure activity, the decision was made to move the event to Visakhapatnam.
This visit is significant as it marks Prime Minister Modi’s first trip to Andhra Pradesh since the formation of the NDA government in the state, which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It is also his first visit to the state since beginning his third term as Prime Minister.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, along with several ministers, is expected to attend the event. Preparations are underway, with district officials, including Collector MN Harendhira Prasad, Police Commissioner Dr. Sankarbrata Bagchi, GVMC Commissioner Dr. P Sampath Kumar, and VMRDA Commissioner KS Viswanathan, conducting site inspections over the weekend.
