In a significant move to boost renewable energy projects, the Punjab Government has issued a notification exempting certain green energy projects from the scrutiny of the Site Appraisal Committee (SAC). This decision is outlined in Notification No. Labour-Lab0MISC/58/2023-2L/614953, which follows up on a previous notification dated 25.01.2022.
As per the new notification, all projects related to Compressed Bio Gas (CBG), Bio-Mass, Solar, and Waste-to-Energy are now exempted from the purview of the SAC under section 41-A of the Factories Act, 1948, and Rule 76-H of the Punjab Factory Rules, 1992. This exemption is expected to streamline the approval process, reduce bureaucratic delays, and encourage investment in Punjab’s renewable energy sector.
The exemption is seen as a progressive step by the state government to fast-track the implementation of sustainable energy projects, which are crucial for achieving energy security and reducing the carbon footprint.
Industry experts and stakeholders have welcomed this move, anticipating a surge in project developments that will contribute to the state’s green energy goals.
For further details, stakeholders are advised to refer to the official notification issued by the Punjab Government.
